Founded in Amsterdam, Finom is a digital financial management platform designed specifically for entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small businesses. The company combines business banking, invoicing, expense management, payments, and financial administration in a single platform, helping SMEs streamline day-to-day operations. With a mobile-first approach and proprietary infrastructure, Finom enables businesses to manage their finances more efficiently while reducing administrative burden and complexity. Since its launch, the company has expanded rapidly across Europe, serving thousands of SMEs and freelancers through a growing suite of financial tools and services.
In 2022, Finom was preparing for a significant milestone: its official launch into the Dutch market. Although headquartered in Amsterdam, the company had spent several years building the regulatory and operational foundations required to enter the Netherlands under its own electronic money license. This launch represented more than a new market announcement—it marked a strategic validation of Finom's European growth ambitions.
The challenge was twofold. First, Finom needed to introduce itself to Dutch entrepreneurs, SMEs, and business decision-makers in an increasingly competitive fintech landscape. Second, the company needed to differentiate itself from both traditional banks and emerging fintech competitors by highlighting its unique value proposition: an all-in-one financial management platform designed specifically for entrepreneurs.
PRLab was tasked with creating awareness around the launch, communicating Finom's long-term vision for Europe, and securing high-quality media coverage across Dutch business, technology, and fintech publications.
Rather than positioning Finom as another challenger bank, we focused on the broader story behind the launch. The narrative centered on Finom's mission to simplify financial operations for entrepreneurs and SMEs while highlighting its decision to build its own infrastructure and secure a Dutch electronic money license.
This approach allowed us to frame the announcement as a strategic business milestone rather than a standard product launch.
Dutch media are highly selective when it comes to fintech announcements. To increase relevance, we localized the story around Finom's Amsterdam roots, its investment in the Dutch market, and its plans to create jobs and support local businesses.
We also emphasized broader economic themes, including inflation, administrative complexity, and the growing demand for digital financial services among entrepreneurs and freelancers.
PRLab developed a focused media outreach campaign targeting the publications most relevant to Finom's audience. Rather than pursuing volume alone, we prioritized influential fintech, technology, and business outlets capable of reaching entrepreneurs, finance professionals, and SME decision-makers.
The campaign combined announcement pitching, media briefings, and tailored story angles to maximize relevance across different publication categories.
Following the initial launch announcement, we expanded visibility by securing coverage across a mix of tier-one fintech, business, and technology publications. This ensured Finom's message reached multiple stakeholder groups, from entrepreneurs and small business owners to fintech observers and potential partners.
The result was broad awareness for Finom's Dutch launch and a strong foundation for future growth in the Netherlands.
The campaign successfully positioned Finom's Dutch launch as a noteworthy development within the European fintech ecosystem.
Coverage was secured across leading business, fintech, and technology publications, including Emerce, Tech.eu, The Paypers, Silicon Canals, Financieel Management, Executive People, and Dutch IT Channel. The campaign generated visibility among entrepreneurs, SME decision-makers, technology leaders, and financial professionals throughout the Netherlands and wider European fintech community.
Key coverage highlights included:
The launch campaign successfully established Finom's presence in the Dutch market while reinforcing its positioning as a fast-growing European fintech focused on helping entrepreneurs and SMEs simplify financial management.
